06.06.10 - Web Updates
The website is now mostly complete, check out the pages on 'Adoration' and 'Reconciliation' for inspiring videos plus information on when these Sacraments are offered. Fr. Patrick's homilies are also now on-line and are accessed by clicking on the 'Resources' tab on the left hand side of the page. I am aware that certain pieces of information are incomplete, particularly in the ministries and groups section. These will be completed as soon as possible. Many thanks and blessings. Chris
30.05.10 - County Council consults on end to £1.1 million subsidy for free transport to faith schools
Staffordshire County Council is proposing that the free public transport currently offered to Roman Catholic children in our area be scrapped on the grounds that it is 'unfair' to taxpayers who do not share our faith and have to attend their nearest school.
"...Ian Parry, Staffordshire County Council Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Children and Young People said: "Although this free transport has been around many years, there is a general acceptance that it is fundamentally unfair..." To read the full report on the council's website [

Apart from the obvious effect this will have upon the financially poorest members of our Catholic community who want their Catholic children to attend a Catholic school; it is yet another example of the faith being attacked in the name of 'equality'. To further compound the issue, there is NO public consultation in Cannock, the nearest ones being in Lichfield and Stafford.

23.05.10 - Message from the webmaster
Thank you all for your patience as we develop the parish website. It is coming along nicely now with a new calendar feature on the home page that will instantly inform visitors about what is happening each day. The larger calendar which can be accessed from the left menu gives access to information over a longer period of time.
There is also a resources section which, at the moment, contains Father Patrick's homilies and will also have a collection of Q&A's from creditable Catholic sources to answer many queries from Catholic and non-Cathoic Chrisitan alike.
Over the next week there will also be an improvement to the church picture slideshow on our home page (ie. there will be more than three pictures!!!) and the ministries and group sections will also be having a 're-vamp'.
In the meantime, the latest newsletter is up, as is the old Mass Times information page so the most important information is accessible.
As ever if you have any ideas for the website or would like someting particular included send me an email on
cannockrc.webmaster@gmail.com
(N.B. this address is for ideas/information to be included on the
website only. If you are wanting an entry to be included in the parish newsletter this must be sent to Father Patrick on the parish email address or by contacting him directly.
